Traffic
The traffic rank is based on aggregated historical traffic data from millions of internet users and is a combined measure of page views and users so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users. Sites with relatively low traffic will not be accurately ranked. Generally, traffic rankings of 1,000,000 and above should be regarded as not reliable. Conversely, the closer a site gets to #1, the more reliable its traffic ranking becomes. In our rating system, a traffic rank of less than 50,000 is considered "high" compared to a traffic rank of more than 1,000,000, which is low. A traffic rank of 100,000 or higher means thousands of visitors and generally thousands of enquiries.
Rating
Although the traffic rank is the baseline for our rating, the final rating of each of the directory is based on a complicated calculation of many factors. Accommodation only directories attract more targeted traffic, so do South African only directories. However, directories offering various other languages generally attract more international visitors. Other factors are user-friendliness of a directory and of course the marketing that goes into the directory and the brand name of a directory. Our rating is there to help you to identify where you should focus your marketing activities and budget.
